Communication System Failure During C Gambino Shooting in Gothenburg

When the 26-year-old hip-hop artist C Gambino was shot in Gothenburg last summer, he himself called SOS Alarm. But the communication system Rakel did not work at the crime scene in the parking garage and healthcare personnel had to shout to each other between floors.

In interviews with healthcare personnel, it appears, among other things, how one of the nurses was given the task of running out to the ambulance to fetch oxygen, reports SVT News West. When he came back, his colleagues had already started rolling out the stretcher with C.Gambino. Since they took a different route, they passed each other.

C.Gambino had a cardiac arrest and lost consciousness. Despite the fact that life-saving measures were initiated, he later died at Sahlgrenska Hospital, 21 minutes after the first alarm.

Kristofer Forssten, head of the Unit for Operations and Network Monitoring at MSB, confirms in an email to SVT that Rakel does not have coverage in certain areas.

"However, the coverage is overall very good", he writes and adds that they are working continuously to make the system more robust and improve the coverage.

Four men are prosecuted for various levels of involvement in the murder. The verdict will be announced on Wednesday.
