The author of the internationally acclaimed book "Gomorra" about the Italian mafia, Roberto Saviano, has won in court against two people who threatened him for nearly two decades.
They have stolen my life, said Saviano, who burst into tears when the verdict was announced in Rome on Monday, reports Corriere della Sera.
He describes the case as "the most important of his life".
The verdict means that the sentence of one and a half years in prison for a former mafia boss belonging to the powerful Casalese clan, Francesco Bidognetti, is confirmed. His lawyer is sentenced to one year and two months in prison at the same time.
Saviano has lived under constant death threats due to his revelations about the country's organized crime.
