It was about to end badly when tram line 5 in eastern Gothenburg was supposed to have driven on the wrong side of the tracks during Tuesday morning, reports Göteborgs-Posten. In the height of Ekmanska stop, the tram is said to have been forced to slam on the brakes and stop at a meeting with another tram, according to passengers in the carriage.
”The driver apologized and said that no one was allowed to get off”, tells a passenger that GP has spoken to.
The driver is then said to have talked to the driver of the other carriage and said that he did not know that he had driven on the wrong side.
Already at the previous stop, Sankt Sigfrids plan, the tram appeared on the wrong side, but waved to the passengers to board, according to the passenger.
Västtrafik confirms to the newspaper that a serious incident occurred at Ekmanska stop and that two trams ended up on the same track.
No collision is said to have occurred, however, says Patrik Chi, press communicator at Västtrafik, to GP.
