It looked tough for Skellefteå already after the first meeting of two in the quarterfinals of the CHL ice hockey.
Skellefteå lost 0–5 on away ice against German Bremerhaven and a giant turnaround in the return match on home ice was what was required of the Västerbottens – but it didn't happen.
Instead, Skellefteå conceded four goals already in the first period, and it looked like it could get out of hand goal-wise.
They did, however, manage to defend themselves better in the two subsequent periods, and forward, it eventually became a consolation goal, after Oscar Lindberg finally managed to outmaneuver the former Modo goalkeeper Kristers Gudlevskis.
The loss was written off at 1–5 for Skellefteå, and in total, it became a humiliating 1–10 against Bremerhaven.
It went better for Växjö this evening. The team is on to the quarterfinals after a draw, 3–3, on Tuesday and a total 4–3 win against Swiss Fribourg.
Even Färjestad is on, with a total 6–5, after having decided in an overtime drama against Finnish Tappara.
