The superstar and director have been linked before, when Charli XCX at the American giant festival Coachella somewhat surprisingly declared this summer to a "Joachim Trier summer" – a nod to that she proclaimed the summer of 2024 to "brat summer".

On Thursday evening, Trier's "Sentimental value" was shown in Oslo, the first screening of the film outside the film festival in Cannes in May. In the invitation, it only appeared that it was a "surprise film", but in the description, it was hinted that the film would be presented by a person who put the director's name on an international scene.

The film screening sold out immediately and the rumors turned out to be true when Charli XCX took the stage.

Trier is "The brat of Oslo", she said, among other things.

It is unknown how the singer's enthusiasm for Trier's films arose, according to NRK.

"Sentimental value" won the jury prize in Cannes and will have its Swedish premiere in September.
