The 41-year-old football star was shot dead by Israeli forces, reports AFP and refers to the Palestinian football association.
According to the statement from the Palestinian football association, Al-Obeid was killed when he was to receive humanitarian aid in southern Gaza.
"During his long career, Al-Obeid made more than 100 goals, which makes him one of the strongest stars in Palestinian football", the statement says.
Al-Obeid was as an active star in the club Khadamat Al-Shati in Gaza and played 24 international matches for Palestine.
