The Swede back after 15 months: "Fantastic"

In 15 months, he was injured. Now John Klingberg is back on the ice – and has made his debut in Edmonton. It felt fantastically fun to be able to play without pain again, says the Swede to Aftonbladet.

The 11th of November 2023 was the last time John Klingberg played in the NHL. Since then, he has undergone a hip operation, had a long rehabilitation – and changed club to Edmonton.

At home against Detroit, 2–3 after penalties, he was back.

In his comeback and debut for the new club, the defender played for over 16 minutes.

It has been fifteen long months of wondering and thinking, he says to Aftonbladet.

I'm glad it felt so good with the puck. Then I need to work on things like timing and reading my teammates, but this was just one step in a process. It will only get better.

There was no win, however. Detroit turned 0–2 into a win with 3–2 after penalties, where compatriot Lucas Raymond scored one of the visitors' goals in the penalty shootout.
