Since the law was introduced on February 1 last year, 154 residence bans have been issued.
"The most positive thing is that they have managed to curb the open drug sales at the locations where residence bans have been issued against individuals", says Kristian Malzoff, commissioner at Noa in the press release.
Local police areas with residence bans report that drug sales have moved to other locations, but Kristian Malzoff thinks it's incorrect to say that "we're just moving the problems somewhere else".
"The fact that criminals have to move their drug market means that the sales are disrupted, and it can take a long time to establish it at another location", says Malzoff.
In the Stockholm suburb of Rågsved, drug sales almost completely disappeared during periods where individuals had residence bans, according to the police.
