The NHL players' union NHLPA is setting up a committee to create better understanding around so-called chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a disease caused by repeated violence against the head. According to the union's chairman Marty Walsh, they will hire a number of medical experts to help players with the issue.
Repeated violence against the head, including concussions, has been a recurring problem in the hockey world and a number of players have been forced to end their careers after suffering from repeated concussions.
