According to Sjöholm and Mattsson, who previously served as chairman and vice chairman of the boxing association, there are several problems that characterize the board.
Among other things, they write in their resignation letter, according to Expressen, that the Swedish Boxing Association is no longer a "democratic organization".
"Important decisions have been made verbally and not recorded in the minutes, and thus not made public until later. A few people within a narrow circle decide a lot about Swedish boxing! Conflicts of interest are never discussed. Self-interest takes precedence over the best interests of boxing", they write.
One of the decisions they are referring to, according to the newspaper, is that Mikael Broman was appointed as the new head coach for the national team last year, while his wife, Linda Broman, sat on the board.
It's just one of many examples. Board members should not be involved in making such decisions due to conflicts of interest, but instead they are part of the decisions. It's completely crazy. I want to work in a democratic board. This is not one, says Sjöholm to Expressen.
