The Israeli army is urging, via thousands of flyers, all residents of Gaza City to evacuate the city. The city will remain a dangerous war zone, it says.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army, IDF, dropped thousands of flyers over Gaza City with the call for all residents to move to safe zones in connection with an intensified military offensive.
The thousands of flyers, addressed to all in Gaza City, indicated routes out of the city to the south and warned that it would remain a dangerous war zone.
The warning follows three partial evacuation orders from Israeli troops. In Gaza City, the heaviest fighting the city has seen in several months has been raging recently.
Early on Wednesday morning, reports also emerged of an Israeli attack on a building belonging to the UN's Palestine agency Unrwa. The Israeli army claims that Hamas is using the building as a base for its attacks on Israeli army troops in central Gaza. On site, they claim to have found large quantities of weapons.
The UN agency has not had control over the building since October. Israeli forces already claimed in February that they had found tunnels belonging to Hamas underneath it.
Unrwa has not yet commented on the attack itself, but says it has no way of verifying the Israeli army's claims that the building is being used by Hamas.
