The head of Gaza's ambulance and emergency team has been killed in an Israeli air raid on Gaza City, according to the health department in the Hamas-ruled territory.
With the death of Doctor Hani al-Jaafarawi, 500 healthcare workers have been killed in Israeli attacks since 7 October, according to the department.
At least 300 healthcare workers in Gaza are reported to have been detained, according to several media outlets.
According to Israel's military, the attack was targeted at Hamas' weapons expert Muhammad Salah, who is also reported to have been killed. Salah was said to have commanded several smaller Hamas groups that develop and produce weapons, according to Israeli media.
