Former Vice Chairman of the Chinese Football Association, Li Yuyi, is sentenced to eleven years in prison for corruption.
In March, Li admitted to having exploited his position in the Football Association to receive money and gifts worth around 17 million kronor.
In addition to the prison sentence, Li will also have to pay almost 1.5 million kronor in fines, while the assets he acquired through corruption will be confiscated and handed over to the state.
Li was Vice Chairman of the Chinese Football Association between 2015 and 2019.
Under President Xi Jinping, China has been cracking down on corruption in sports. Earlier this year, the former Chairman of the Chinese Football Association, Chen Xuyuan, was sentenced to life imprisonment for accepting bribes.
The former national team captain, Li Tie, has admitted to the same crime, plus match-fixing.
