Mexico's outgoing president Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador has signed the controversial law that means the people will get to elect all the country's judges.

In a video clip on social media on Sunday, local time, the president is seen signing the law and says it is a "historic day".

Critics argue that the reform threatens democracy and undermines the independence of the judiciary, as criminals are feared to be able to blackmail elected judges more easily.
