Vanessa Kamga surpassed herself and came fifth in the discus final at the EM. But now Sweden will lose its fine placement and personal record.

Vanessa Kamga's record will be erased due to an organizer's mistake in an earlier stage of the competition. Sweden's third throw measured 61.68 meters and meant that she was among the top eight who got to throw again in the final. Then she threw 62.71 in her next attempt.

However, the third throw was mismeasured by the officials. Therefore, Kamga would not have been allowed to throw again – and everything she did later in the competition will be erased from the result lists.

Now Sweden will be ninth with a result of 60.62 after France has filed a protest. Their athlete Melina Robert-Michon should have been allowed to throw again in the competition, she finished ninth, but is now moved up in the result list.

Kajsa Bergqvist admits that the mismeasurement is clear.

Corrected: An error occurred in an earlier version regarding Kamga's result.
