Palestinian health authorities report that at least 18 people were killed in the attack, which according to the AP news agency is the deadliest on the West Bank since Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
"The attack is part of a very disturbing pattern of illegal use of violence by ISF (Israeli security forces) during military-like operations on the West Bank," says the UN human rights organization OHCHR in the Palestinian areas in a statement.
The air strike hit a three-story building that housed, among other things, a café. Among the dead were a family of two adults and two young children.
The family lived above the café, according to the brother of the deceased man. A brother-in-law of the family was also in the apartment and was killed.
According to the Israeli military (IDF), several militant Palestinians were killed, including the leader of the terrorist-stamped Hamas in the camp. The IDF accuses him, without presenting any evidence, of having planned, among other things, an attack on Israel on October 7, on the anniversary of the bloody attack by the Islamist Hamas.
