It was just after midnight, the night towards Monday, that the police were alerted to gunfire in Kallhäll in Järfälla, north of Stockholm. There, they found two men in their 20-25 years who were shot dead in a car.
A person was arrested during the morning, suspected of aiding and abetting murder. But some details about the suspect, who was later detained, neither the police nor the prosecutor want to give.
Since the suspected person is only detained for aiding and abetting, one believes that the shooter is on the loose.
Looking for one or more
Whether it is about one or more suspected perpetrators, prosecutor and investigation leader Maria Hävermark does not want to say.
No, it's too early to say. It depends on what's behind and how many are involved in the whole thing. We don't have that clear to us yet. But the police are working intensively, she says to TT.
The two victims are now identified. Maria Hävermark does not want to provide any details about them, but says that the circumstances suggest that there are gang connections.
The whole incident suggests that there is some kind of gang connection. It's a shooting in a car of two people. But we're investigating what it's about, and we're very early in the investigation yet.
The police continue to work
On Monday afternoon, the police continued to hear witnesses and go through surveillance footage. They have also looked at whether any taxi company has had drives in the area, and are mapping the movement process temporally before the gunfire.
According to Susanna Rinaldo, press spokesperson for the police, there are witnesses who have made several interesting observations.
It's about how you directly after the gunfire, for example, have seen a person running from the scene. But with that said, I dare not say if it's a perpetrator or several, said Rebecca Landberg earlier to TT.
A preliminary investigation into murder and serious weapons offenses has been initiated.
