Russia and Ukraine have carried out an exchange of prisoners of war with each other.
"On December 30, as a result of a negotiation process, 150 Russian military personnel returned from areas controlled by the Kyiv government. In exchange, 150 Ukrainian military prisoners were handed over", writes the Russian Defense Ministry in a statement.
The exchange is a result of negotiations led by the United Arab Emirates, according to the ministry.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj states that 189 Ukrainian prisoners were released in the exchange. He thanks the United Arab Emirates for the country's efforts.
According to BBC, this is the tenth prisoner exchange between the countries this year.
