Tourists in Mogán on Gran Canaria's southwestern coast will have to open their wallets further from next year, since the municipality has decided to introduce a tourist tax.
All those staying at hotels or other facilities will then have to pay 0.15 euros, equivalent to less than two kronor, per night.
In Mogán, which according to the Norwegian news site Canariajournalen is the first municipality to introduce such a tax, there are several popular destinations for, among others, Scandinavians.
Several have, however, opposed the tax, writes Canariajournalen, since the costs of administering the fee are estimated to exceed the expected revenues.
