The 28-year-old Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Norway's crown princess Mette Marit from a previous relationship. On Monday, the "bonus prince" was charged with 32 different crimes.

The day after, Crown Prince Haakon made some brief comments, including about how the high-profile court case affects his family.

Everyone involved in this case probably thinks it's challenging and difficult, says the Crown Prince to Norwegian journalists in connection with a visit to Trondheim.

At the same time, the royal family's work continues as usual.

We continue to solve our tasks as well as we can, as we usually do, says Haakon.

Marius Borg Høiby was arrested over a year ago, suspected of having assaulted his then-girlfriend. Later, a number of additional suspicions have been added, including rape.

The indictment that came on Monday includes a total of 32 charges. Borg Høiby has admitted to some of the incidents, but denies, among other things, the rapes.

Now we have been informed what the charges concern. Now it moves on in the legal process and now it's up to the court to decide how it will end, says Crown Prince Haakon.

Marius Borg Høiby is 28 years old and the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette Marit from a previous relationship. Mette Marit married Crown Prince Haakon in 2001.

Marius Borg Høiby was charged on Monday with 32 different crimes. Including assault of a former girlfriend and four cases of rape. They occurred, according to the prosecutor, while the victims were sleeping and were filmed by Borg Høiby.

Borg Høiby has previously admitted to some crimes, but denied the allegations of rape. The trial is expected to begin in January and last for six weeks. Borg Høiby risks up to ten years in prison.
