Jakobsen had three podium positions in the World Championship before the competition: two second places and one third place.
On Sunday, he added another second place to the collection. The 30-year-old delivered a stable first run and finished eighth, just a hair's breadth from the podium.
In the second run, the Swede really stepped on the gas, and it soon became clear that he would climb in the results list, as one skier after another struggled to match Jakobsen.
The question was only how far it would take him – and the answer was all the way up to a fine second place.
Really fun that I managed to put together the second run. It felt like a fight mentally today, but then I found the right "mode" in my head, to just mentally load up. I'm damn pleased that I dared to take some risks in the second run, says Jakobsen.
Against Frenchman Clement Noël, who was the superior leader after the first run, there was not much to do. He was able to maintain his starting position despite some problems and win the competition. Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath finished third.
The second Swedish starter, Fabian Ax Swartz, finished in 27th place.
