Six of the participants in the Ironman in Copenhagen have got an unexpected obstacle in the triathlon – their racing bikes have namely been stolen from the competition area.

The bicycle thefts were discovered on Sunday morning before the race. Ironman's Danish national manager Jacob Nørregaard tells TV 2 Kosmopol that they do not understand how the theft could have occurred as they have had many guards with dogs on site throughout the night. They have used the same fencing and security company since 2010.

It has never happened before. But we have found new bikes for the athletes – they have accepted it – and they will have a good day and a good race.

The Ironman distance involves 3,860 meters of swimming, 180.8 kilometers of cycling and a marathon (42,195 meters) of running.
