The upswing on the Stockholm Stock Exchange intensified during afternoon trading and the industrial sector had a good day. Even the larger European stock exchanges rose – towards new record levels.

At the close, the broad OMXS-index had risen 1.1 percent.

Among the winners on the OMXS30-index, which includes the most traded shares, several industrial giants stood out, such as Atlas Copco, Alfa Laval, AB Volvo, and Sandvik – all of which rose more than 1.5 percent.

Against the trend, defense conglomerate Saab fell after unconfirmed media reports that the USA plans to veto Saab's Gripen sale to Colombia, which Saab denies.

In the afternoon, Saab announced an order for combat management systems from the Colombian navy, but the stock still closed down 0.3 percent.

In Europe, the combined Euro Stoxx 600-index reached a new record high but then fell back slightly, ending up 0.9 percent.

The New York Stock Exchange was clearly rising at the close in Stockholm.

During the evening, American data chip giant Nvidia will release its quarterly report, which is expected to have a significant impact on US stock exchanges, as well as globally.

The krona weakened slightly, with one dollar now costing 10.62 kronor, while the euro is quoted at 11.16.
