Dousa Highlights Concerns Over US-EU Trade Volatility

The unpredictability is problematic, says Minister for Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party) about the new customs messages from the USA.

”Our Swedish companies import and export goods, not least important input goods for industry all over the world. The continued volatility, high tariffs and uncertainties in relation to tariff rates for different countries are therefore still problematic”, says Dousa in a written statement to TT.

The customs agreement between the EU and the USA will, after President Trump's latest order, not come into force on August 1, but instead on August 7. Just that is not expected to affect Swedish companies significantly, but still there are many uncertainties, according to Dousa.

”I understand that it is difficult for many companies to navigate the current trade policy reality with new messages every other day", says the minister.

He advises companies that need help to contact the customs duty office at the National Board of Trade.
