The background to the dollar's strengthening against several currencies is believed to be an increasing likelihood that Donald Trump will win the presidential election. Trump's plans for increased import tariffs could lead to rising inflation, which in turn would hold back interest rate cuts from the central bank Federal Reserve, writes Financial Times.
