The Handball League's eighth place team has had three seasons in a row where the financial result has been in red figures. A trend that has led to Malmö having a negative equity of over 3.2 million kronor, according to Aftonbladet.
Figures that imply the club is in economic crisis and needs to bring in over 1.5 million kronor by April 30 at the latest.
It's about the club's survival, says chairman Jörgen Rasmusson to the newspaper.
Therefore, the club has appealed to the public for help.
We appeal to all cooperation partners and the audience, but also make a general appeal where individuals can donate to support the club and above all preserve handball in Malmö.
Then we'll fight within the club with tooth and nail to get these funds together.
Despite having a negative equity, Malmö has managed to retain its elite license, which has been made possible through deferred loans from members.
One of the people who has helped out is chairman Rasmusson himself.
I can say that I'm one of them. My friend and colleague bear the majority of them, and then there are a few enthusiasts who help out.
Malmö's men's team was in the SM final in 2018 and has played in the top division since 2009. The women's team is newcomers in the top division and is second to last.
