In several of the special stages, the Swede instead ended up at the bottom – a last place and three placements as next to last, on special stages seven to ten.
During the fifth stage, it also became a costly mistake for Solberg. The 23-year-old missed a braking, drove through a barrier, and ended up on the driveway to a house on the edge of the forest. Solberg had to turn around and lost several seconds.
After the day of competition, he is last in the WRC2 standings in Finland.
The intermediate competition continues on Saturday and is decided on Sunday.
In the total standings of WRC2, Solberg is still leading, as he is going for the World Championship title in the class.
Solberg unexpectedly won the eighth intermediate competition in the WRC class of the World Championship in rally in Estonia two weeks ago, when he substituted for Toyota's regular driver Sébastien Ogier. He then took the first Swedish victory in 28 years.
