With a heavily bandaged left thigh, he was supported by the national team's medical team as he made his way to the locker room.
As he approached the Swedish dugout, he received a warm hug from national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson.
How badly the 30-year-old is injured remains to be seen, but his reactions suggested that he is likely to face a new, long period of absence, yet another one for the injury-prone defender.

Before tonight's group final against Slovakia, Tomasson told the association's website:
"I'm glad to see Victor back in form. He has played a part in Manchester United now and is in a good place now. It's important that we get to take advantage of his leadership."
Carl Starfelt took Nilsson Lindelöf's place to the right in the Swedish three-man defense.
Isak Hien was warned early in the match and is suspended against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
The match is ongoing. Sweden leads 2–1 midway through the second half.
