Patrick Thoresen Retires After Leading Djurgården to SHL

Veteran Patrick Thoresen, 41, is ending his career.

Djurgården's return to SHL after the hockeyallsvenska final against AIK became the Norwegian's last efforts on the ice.

"After 25 years as a professional ice hockey player, my body stopped working", he writes on Facebook, according to Norwegian TV2.

Prior to the previous season, Djurgården recruited back veteran Thoresen from Norwegian Storhamar. Then he had not played in the Stockholm club for 10 years.

Thoresen has, in addition to playing in Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Russia, also NHL seasons with Edmonton and Philadelphia on his list of merits.
