The task of exploring options for forming a new government is now in the hands of M leader Ulf Kristersson. He is aiming for a four-party centre-right government, which would need to cooperate with other parties to secure support for its policies in the Riksdag.
A centre-right government would in practice mean a “Tidö 2” government, S leader Andersson believes. The Centre Party would then break its election promise not to support or join a government dependent on the Sweden Democrats, she writes in her post.
“To avoid unnecessary speculation, I want to be clear. The Social Democrats will do everything in our power to honour the election results. We would go into full opposition to a Tidö 2 government and would not take part in any negotiations with such a government constellation. It can be completely ruled out,” writes the S leader, adding that work to form a government is continuing “at full speed.”
"The voters voted for change in our country. The Tidö parties did not receive the support they needed to continue governing."
