Islanders fall to Devils in overtime despite two goals from Swedish players

The New York Islanders’ Swedish players were involved in all of the team’s goals in last night’s NHL game, but it wasn’t enough against New Jersey, which secured the win in overtime.

Simon Holmström set up teammate Anthony Duclair, who made it 1–0 with a wrist shot just over 15 minutes into the game. In the second period, Holmström scored the 3–2 goal himself, also with a wrist shot.

Swede Victor Eklund also scored for the Islanders in the second period. Emil Heineman recorded an assist.

New Jersey-based Swede Jesper Bratt also recorded an assist in the game, which New Jersey won 5–4 in overtime. The team has now won four straight games, the last three in overtime. The Islanders have lost three straight games.
