Ingebrigtsen was acquitted in June of assault against his son and athletics star Jakob Ingebrigtsen, but was convicted of "kroppskrenkelse" – a less serious offense in legal terms – against his daughter. For this, the 59-year-old received 15 days of conditional imprisonment and 10,000 kronor in fines.
It is against this background that the Norwegian will not be given coaching accreditation from the Canadian athletics association.
"With reference to our guide for safe sports, Gjert Ingebrigtsen does not qualify for our support", writes the Canadian athletics association.
It has been clear since before that Gjert Ingebrigtsen will not receive World Championship accreditation from the Norwegian athletics association in his role as coach for Narve Gilje Nordås.
Ingebrigtsen also trains the Portuguese middle-distance runner José Carlos Pinto. To VG, the Portuguese athletics association states that they have not yet made a final decision in the matter.
The World Championship in athletics will be held on September 13–21 in Tokyo.
