The new album will be released on October 3, writes the American world star in an Instagram post.
The podcast New Heights is made by her boyfriend Travis Kelce together with his brother Jason Kelce and usually deals with American football. In the new episode, which was published in parallel with the announcement on Instagram, Taylor Swift says that she recorded the album in Sweden in connection with her "The eras tour", which took place between March 2023 and December 2024.
I played concerts. I did like three in a row. I had three days off. Then I flew to Sweden, went back to the tour and worked on this, she says.
I was physically exhausted but so mentally stimulated and thrilled to be able to create.
The Swedish producers Max Martin and Karl Johan ”Shellback” Schuster have been involved and made the 12 songs. But Taylor Swift is also herself involved as a producer.
Max Martin is my mentor, she says.
Together with Shellback, he has previously produced some of the world star's biggest songs, including ”Shake it off” and ”Blank space”.
We did everything in Sweden, it was just the three of us and I said that I wanted to be just as proud of this album as I am of ”The eras tour”.
The new album will be the twelfth for the world star. Her previous one, ”The tortured poets department” from 2024, was streamed 300 million times on Spotify in one day and one billion in five days – which is a record. Last time she surprised the fans by immediately releasing another album and described it all as a double album. ”The life of a showgirl” however contains twelve songs, no more, says Swift.
In one of the songs, Sabrina Carpenter is featured and the songs are about everything that went on during her tour.
