The documentary depicts how Hendy-Freegard has deceived people out of money for 20 years using different identities. He has, among other things, pretended to work for the British intelligence agency, MI5.
He became internationally wanted in 2021, when he ran over two police officers who visited the property in the French countryside where he was staying. The police officers were there along with animal welfare inspectors because Hendy-Freegard was suspected of breeding dogs illegally. He was arrested the following year in Belgium. On Thursday, a French court sentenced him to six years in prison for running over and injuring the police officers.
In 2005, he was convicted of, among other things, fraud and theft, but was released in 2009.
