The Tax Agency discovers more crimes, and customs stops more smuggling attempts and seizes more narcotics. In one year, the authorities have really stepped up, says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (The Moderate Party).

The Government wants to intensify the work to strangle the criminal economy, which is estimated to generate around 100-150 billion kronor annually.

Over a year ago, the Tax Agency, the Enforcement Authority, and the Customs Agency were tasked with strengthening efforts to get to the money.

Now, the Government is presenting a first follow-up and the Minister of Finance highlights several examples.

The Tax Agency has completed nearly a third more criminal investigations. This may involve more detected tax crimes and population registration crimes. Svantesson also points out that the Enforcement Authority has had an impact on so-called distance measurements with nearly a third higher amount. The Customs Agency is also reported to have stopped more smuggling attempts and seized more narcotics, according to the Government's report.

There is a fantastic increase in several areas. They have prioritized and worked to achieve these goals, says Svantesson.

However, she is not satisfied and says that there is much more to be done.

For example, the number of rejections of applications for organization numbers. This is an important issue, but there has only been a marginal increase. Here, one must probably make more efforts.
