The German economy is still struggling. For the third month in a row, an index from the analysis firm Ifo, which measures the business climate in the country, is declining.

In July, the index stands at 87.0, compared to 88.6 in June. The analysts had expected an index of 89.0 according to Bloomberg's compilation.

At the same time, figures from Ifo show that companies are also more pessimistic about the coming months. The sub-index measuring future confidence fell to 86.9 in July from 88.8 in June, where analysts had expected 89.3.
