The examiners at Lund University suspected that the group work had been done with the help of AI, since the cited sources did not exist. The consequence was a suspension for six weeks.
But one of the students appealed the decision. The student admitted that Chat GPT had been used, but claimed that it had only contributed to one of the incorrect references.
The Administrative Court, however, considers the suspension to be justified.
The student has a responsibility to check that all sources are genuine before the work is submitted. And the court notes that in this case, an attempt has been made to mislead during the assessment.
