The Land and Environment Court of Appeal rejects the appeal regarding the environmental permit for the mining company Viscaria's mining operations in the previously closed Viscaria mine outside Kiruna.
"We are very pleased that the court does not grant leave to appeal. We can now continue our preparations to reopen the Viscaria copper mine with full force", says Jörgen Olsson, CEO of Viscaria, in a press release.
The company received the green light from the Land and Environment Court earlier this year, a decision that was shortly thereafter appealed by, among others, Gabna sameby.
The decision was also appealed by Laevas sameby, but the appeal was later withdrawn after entering into a cooperation agreement with Viscaria.
