According to anonymous sources to AFP, the Qatari was already charged on February 5 for buying votes in connection with the Qatari investment fund, QIA, having recently changed its vote at a board meeting of the Lagardère group in 2018.
Al-Khelaifi denies the crime, according to a spokesperson who spoke to French L'Èquipe.
"This case has absolutely nothing to do with Nasser al-Khelaifi, but as usual, he is being drawn into a completely misleading investigation because he is a well-known name", says a person close to al-Khelaifi according to L'Equipe.
In 2023, French police raided the PSG chief's home, after French-Algerian Tayeb Benabderrahmane claimed to have been imprisoned and tortured in Qatar, following suspicions that he possessed sensitive documents about al-Khelaifi.
The incident, however, has nothing to do with the new allegations.
Nasser al-Khelaifi is one of the most powerful people in the football world.
Besides the chairman role in PSG, he sits on UEFA's board and is also chairman of the club organization ECA (European Club Association).
