The Swedish-Danish mail and parcel deliverer Postnord reports a significant profit increase for the fourth quarter last year. However, mail volumes are plummeting and the owners – the Danish and Swedish states – will not receive any dividend according to the board's proposal in the annual report.

Postnord reports an operating result of 385 million kronor for last year's fourth quarter. This can be compared to the profit of 124 million kronor during the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

Mail volumes decreased by 19 percent during the quarter, while package volumes increased by six percent.

Net sales fell by four percent to 10 billion kronor.

"Price increases on mail products partially compensated for the volume decline on mail. Sales were also negatively affected by our divestment of the main part of the activities in the Danish logistics business," says CEO Annemarie Gardshol according to a press release.

"Our improvement programs continue to deliver in line with plan. Increased package volumes in combination with reduced cost per package also positively affected the result," she adds.

The Board of Directors proposes that no dividend be paid for the financial year 2024.

Postnord, with over 22,600 employees, is owned 40 percent by the Danish state and 60 percent by the Swedish state.
