Persson on the future after the success: "We'll see"

He has led Sweden to medal success in Paris. But after the Olympic Games, Jörgen Persson's contract as national team captain in table tennis expires. Now I will enjoy this a bit, then we'll see, says Persson about the future.

Before the Olympic Games in Paris, Persson talked about a great medal chance: in mixed doubles. There, it stopped in the quarterfinals, but it was a fun summer game for the Swedish table tennis team anyway.

When we came here, I never thought we would leave with two silvers, I don't think any of us did. I said before that the mixed competition was our best chance, but now we have silver in singles and team instead, says Jörgen Persson.

The Swedish men followed up Truls Möregårdh's silver in singles by copying the feat in the team competition. A great success, says the association captain.

We've only been in the quarterfinals before, so it's naturally super big. Finally, we're in a big final again. At the Olympic Games, it's been 24 years, so that's bloody big, says Persson.

After four years as association captain, his contract expires after the Olympic Games. But the successes do breed a certain desire to continue.

Yes, with such results. But we'll see, this is the fourth year. We'll take it then. Now I'll enjoy this a bit with the guys. Then we'll see what happens, says Persson.

The next big championship is the European Championship in Linz in October.
