There is a toxic atmosphere in Eskilstuna, says Peter Wissinger, vice chairman of STG, to the newspaper.
A week ago, gymnast Tonya Paulsson from Malmö announced that she has no confidence in the Swedish national team and that she will therefore switch to Taiwan, her mother's homeland.
She confirms to DN that the decisive reason is that she feels uncomfortable in the training environment that prevails in Eskilstuna, where most of the national team activities are located.
STG directs similar criticism and means that the concentration of resources to Eskilstuna has led to an "extreme favoritism of gymnasts who are in or recruited to" the town.
Other gymnasts in the country simply do not get the same opportunities to participate, says Peter Wissinger.
National team captain Andersson Melander, who is active in Eskilstuna, does not want to be interviewed by DN, but refers to the Swedish Gymnastics Federation.
"We have transparency in selection criteria and selections for championships and national teams, which are clearly communicated to all relevant clubs, leaders, gymnasts (and guardians for those under 18 years old) and selections are never made by a single person," writes communications manager Lotta Darlin in a text message to DN.
The newspaper writes that similar criticism has previously been directed against STG, which then had a national team coach who was considered to favor his own club and gymnasts.
It was just as wrong then as it is today. This is a system failure, says Wissinger.
