The visit, which was not immediately confirmed by the campaign, is expected to take place in connection with Harris campaigning in the swing state of Arizona on Friday, according to The New York Times and CNN.
It is likely a strategic move. Opinion polls show that US voters have more confidence in Republican Donald Trump on the immigration issue.
In recent months, Republicans have loudly criticized "border tsar" Harris for not getting illegal immigration under control during her time as vice president. Party representatives have also claimed that she has not even visited the country's southern border. That Harris' task was to investigate the root causes of migration from Central America and that she was in the border city of El Paso in 2021 is less mentioned.
Harris, on the other hand, has criticized Trump for ensuring that congressional Republicans voted against a bill on strengthened border security in the spring. She has also turned against his election promise to deport more than 10 million undocumented immigrants.
Arizona is one of seven swing states where the US presidential election in November is expected to be decided. Currently, Trump leads Harris there by 2.2 percentage points, according to Real Clear Politics' compilation.
