I know that I don't need others to get the match I need, because I'm at the level I want and should be at, says Johaug to VG.

The big goal for Johaug is the World Championship on home soil in Trondheim. Before that, the 36-year-old Norwegian will not be seen much in the World Cup, she reveals. Johaug plans to only do eight races before the World Championship premiere

After two races in the national Norwegian long-distance premiere in Beitostølen, she will only participate in two competitions in the World Cup premiere in Ruka and as many the week after in Lillehammer.

There will also be two starts in the Norwegian Championships in Hamar. However, she will skip the Tour de Ski, as well as the competitions in France, Switzerland – and Falun after New Year's.

It's not that much. In other words, I have to test going all out before Christmas, says Johaug, who must achieve good results to qualify for the World Championship team.

Thus, Johaug follows roughly the same plan as before the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing 2022.

In 2022, I barely competed between December and the Olympic Games. It became two months without competition, she says and adds:

I can handle running test competitions in Holmenkollen and pushing myself. I'm used to competing and taking responsibility for myself, concludes Johaug.
