The centre-back Nathaniel Adjei has been on loan from Allsvenskan side Hammarby to Lorient this spring. Now the French club has chosen to exercise the purchase option that was written into the agreement, writes Hammarby on its website.
The deal is the largest ever for Hammarby. According to reports in the evening press, Lorient is paying around 65 million kronor for the 21-year-old.
"We are very happy and proud to have had Adjei with us and to have been part of developing him into the quality defender he has now grown into", says Hammarby's sports manager Mikael Hjelmberg.
Adjei came to Hammarby from Danbort in his home country of Ghana in 2021 and initially played in the talent team HTFF. In 2022, he was promoted to the first team, where he played a total of 24 Allsvenskan matches.
