Håkan Ericson has done his job as the national team captain for the Faroe Islands' football national team. The 64-year-old is forced to leave his job after weak results in the Nations League, writes Aftonbladet.
"We are last in our group and have not yet managed to win a single match, not even at home. Under these circumstances, we believe it is best to let new forces take over the leadership of our men's national team", says Christian Andreasen, chairman of the Faroe Islands Football Association, in a press release.
Ericson took office in 2019 and has previously achieved relatively strong results with the small island nation. But in the ongoing group play in the Nations League's C-division, the Faroe Islands are without a win after four matches.
During the recently concluded gathering, it was 2–2 against Armenia and 1–1 against Latvia, both times at home.
Håkan Ericson led Sweden's U21 national team to European Championship gold in 2015.
