National team defender Carl Starfelt is injured, his Spanish club Celta Vigo announced. According to the club, Starfelt injured himself during a training session and will be out for "three to four weeks". The Swede will therefore miss the national team's World Championship start with the matches against Slovenia on September 5 and Kosovo on September 8.
Starfelt's last match in the national team was in Sweden's 5–1 win over Northern Ireland in March, when he sat on the bench for the entire match. Prior to that, he played the entire match when Sweden lost 0–1 to Luxembourg.
It is also clear from before that Tottenham striker Dejan Kulusevski will miss the September gathering.
