Five people have been shot to death at a nursing home in Croatia, according to state media.
The Croatian TV company HRT says that an unidentified armed man entered a nursing home in Daruvar, east of the capital Zagreb, and opened fire. At least five people were killed in the shooting and several others were injured.
A suspected perpetrator fled the scene, but the police caught him at a nearby café.
According to the Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List, the suspected shooter is a war veteran who shot his mother and other residents and staff at the nursing home.
Croatia fought a war of independence in former Yugoslavia between 1991 and 1995.
Shootings in Croatia are very rare.
The authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
