Dozens of people have died after drinking illegal spirits in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul.
"37 people have died and 17 others are still being treated", the governor's office announced on Monday.
The deaths have been reported over six weeks from several of the city's districts. At the beginning of December, Turkish media wrote that 17 people had died from illegal spirits and that dozens had been hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. Thousands of bottles were seized, including from stores.
