When country star Ingrid Andress sang the American national anthem at a baseball arena in Texas on Monday, she failed to hit the right notes. Now, Andress reveals that she was drunk at the time – and that she will check into rehab to get the help she needs. This is reported by BBC.
On social media, clips from the performance, which took place in connection with Major League Baseball's home run derby, have spread quickly, and Andress herself comments on the event on X:
"I apologize to MLB, all fans, and this country that I love so much, for this interpretation. I'll be back with how it is to be in rehab, I've heard it's a lot of fun".
On social media, the performance is described as "painful" and as "one of the worst national anthem performances ever". But Ingrid Andress has also received support. Country star Martina McBride writes: "Sending you love and positivity. You'll get through this."
Ingrid Andress was nominated for a Grammy in 2021 in the category of best newcomer. She has also written songs for Charli XCX and Bebe Rexha.
